A 25 year old Filipina-British Beauty who represented her home province Camarines Sur wowed the crowd from the swimsuit down to the nerve-wracking Q&A to bag the Miss Universe Philippines crown.
Rachel Louise Peters was crowned as Miss Universe Philippines 2017 on the Grand Coronation Night of Binibining Pilipinas 2017 besting out 39 other ladies for the top plum.
She was asked in the Q&A round: What would she say to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leaders if she had been invited to speak at the ASEAN Summit held in Manila the day before the coronation.
Her answer was: “I believe that one of the biggest problems that our country faces today is divisiveness– in politics, in religion and also in culture. And I believe that is something that is the same across the world, and so that is something that I would want to address. I believe that when people can learn to tolerate each other’s differences and respect each other’s opinions, then we will just be a stronger nation and world.”
Peters also won the following special awards: Best in Swimsuit Award, the Face of Binibini Award (Miss Photogenic) and the Jag Denim Queen Special Award.
